My account

Open Settings → My account to change your profile, sign-in, and sessions, or to delete your account. Only Profile works offline.

Profile

Under Profile, change your Avatar, Name, Username, and Birthday. Without a photo, click your avatar to choose its color. Type a birthday such as Mar 14 1990; the year is optional. Your username is part of every When link, like when.day/@you, so changing it breaks links that use the old one.

Usernames use letters, numbers, and hyphens. An underscore becomes a hyphen. You can change your username once every 30 days. Your previous usernames stay reserved to your account, so someone else cannot claim them. While you keep the same account, you can reclaim one after the same 30-day wait. Old links do not redirect.

Under Sign-in and security, change your sign-in email or set up an authenticator app. To prove it's you, When emails a six-digit code to your current address first.

Change your email: enter the new address, choose Change email, and enter the code from your current inbox. Then enter the code sent to the new address and choose Confirm. The Email row shows "Email changed to" your new address.
Set up an authenticator app: choose Set up authenticator app. Setup opens in its own window: enter the emailed code, scan the QR code, then enter a code from the app. Closing the window cancels setup.
Remove an authenticator app: choose Remove and enter a current code from that app.
Reset your password: beside Password, choose Send reset email, then follow the link in the email.

Sign out other devices

Active sessions lists the browsers and devices signed in to your account. Choose Sign out beside one to sign it out. When two or more other devices are signed in, you can also choose Sign out other devices and confirm with Sign out all. The session you are using stays signed in.

Delete your account

Deleting your account starts a 30-day window. After 30 days, the account and its data cannot be recovered.

Your usernames stay retired after the account is permanently deleted. A new account cannot inherit them, even if you sign up with the same email.

Export anything you want to keep.
Open Settings → My account. Delete account is at the end of the page.
Choose Delete my account, then Email me the code.
Enter the six-digit code from the email, then choose Schedule account deletion.

You need an internet connection to delete your account.

Restore a deleted account
