Check off events and keep a streak
Mark an occurrence of an event Done, or Paid for a payment or subscription, or skip it. Your answers are yours alone: on a shared calendar, each member keeps their own.
Events you can check off
- Reminder, Payment / Bill, Subscription, and Habit events, on any calendar.
- Events of any type with Check off turned on in Settings → Event types.
- Repeating events with a Streak field.
Events on calendars you can only view cannot be checked off. You can answer an occurrence once it has started, and the next upcoming one of a repeating event.
Check one off
- Click the check before the event's title on the calendar or in a sidebar widget such as Upcoming events. The same checks appear in Dashboard widgets.
- Open the event and click a check in its Streak row. It fills in once the occurrence is done and shows a dash once it is skipped.
- Right-click the event, or open ••• in its editor, and choose Mark done (Mark paid for a payment or subscription) or Skip this one.
- Press
⌥Xto check off the open or selected event, or⌥⇧Xto skip it. Press it again to clear the answer.
Each answer shows a confirmation with Undo. On a phone, tap the check at the end of the event's row.
Check off several events while the confirmation is visible, and it updates one notice with a count such as ×3. Undo restores the previous answers for the whole batch.
Keep a streak
Open a repeating event and choose Streak at the bottom of the editor. The Streak row shows a check for each of the latest occurrences, then your run, such as "6 weeks in a row · 1 skipped". Click a check to mark that occurrence done, including one you missed, and click it again to clear it. With the keyboard, Tab to the checks and use the arrow keys to move between them. The row appears automatically on events you can check off. To remove it and disable check-offs for that event, point to the row and click its X. Choose Streak again to restore check-offs; your earlier answers stay saved.
A streak counts the occurrences in a row that you marked done. A skipped occurrence keeps the streak going without adding to it. The latest unanswered occurrence stays open, but an earlier one you never answered ends the run.
The Habits widget shows every streak at once, next to your habits. Each one shows its run and this week's checks, so you can mark a missed day right there. Click a name to open it, for example to mark one skipped.
