Inbox
The Inbox holds requests waiting for your answer, drafts, and the When agent's daily briefing. A draft is an event that does not have a date yet. Open Inbox from the navigation.
On a computer, the Inbox list sits in a panel beside your calendar. Move through the list with ↑ and ↓ to see each item on the calendar, then press ↵ or click to open it in the panel. Choose Inbox at the top of the panel, or press Esc, to go back to the list. Switch the calendar between Week and Month at its top.
To make the panel wider, drag the space between it and the calendar. Double-click the space to reset it.
The Inbox badge counts waiting requests, agent briefings, and agent suggestions. It updates as new items arrive and clears each item when you answer, accept, or dismiss it. Opening the Inbox does not clear the count. Drafts do not count.
Answer a request
Requests lists calendar invitations.
Select an invitation to see a preview of the shared calendar, then choose Accept or Decline.
The Inbox is the only place to answer a calendar invitation.
Read your daily briefing
Each morning the When agent puts a summary of your day under From your agent. Open it to read it; the calendar shows that day.
The briefing starts with the agent's take on your day: how demanding it is, where the pressure points are, and where you have room. Then come the things worth a look, such as two plans that overlap, a flight to plan around, or drafts that fit your free time, each with a button that asks the agent about it in the briefing's conversation. A line covers tomorrow. Point at an item worth a look to outline its events on the calendar.
The next briefing replaces it, and Archive clears it sooner.
Ask your agent about an item
With the When agent on, a briefing, a suggestion, and a draft each have a field under them for asking the agent about that item. Press ⌥R to put the cursor there, type, and press Enter. Press Escape to go back to the list.
- On a briefing, ask about a conflict or your free time, or choose a suggested question such as Help me fix the 2 PM overlap.
- On a suggestion, ask why the agent suggested it, or ask for a different change, such as "Make it yearly, but on Family." When the agent makes that change, the suggestion reads Done in chat and leaves the Inbox once you move to another item.
- On a draft, ask the agent to plan it, such as "Find a time with Sam next week."
The answer appears under the item, and Undo in it puts back any change. The same messages appear in your chat with the agent.
Quick add
Type in the quick add row at the top of the Inbox, or below the list in the Drafts widget, and press Enter. On the Inbox page, ⌥C puts the cursor in the row. From anywhere, press ⌘K and type an event with a day or time to add it from the command menu.
Text that names a day or time creates an event, so lunch Friday at 1 lands on Friday at 1 PM. A meal with a day but no time takes its usual hour, so lunch Friday is at noon. Add a repeat to make it a series: standup Monday 9am every weekday repeats Monday through Friday. Anything else is saved as a draft. Press Shift+Enter to save a draft either way.
Days read forward, except today and last. A day that is today means today at any hour: on a Friday, friday and that day's date are today, and friday 11am is today at 11 AM even after 11 AM. A time on its own, such as 11am, means the next one, so once it has passed it is tomorrow. last friday is the most recent Friday before today, so on a Friday it means a week ago, just as next friday means a week ahead. friday last week is the Friday of the week before this one.
Include a length or a rough timeframe if you know it. Call accountant this week 30m becomes a 30-minute draft due this week.
Words When reads, such as tomorrow, 10, or next week, are underlined as you type. Click one, or move the cursor into it and press ↓, to change it: pick another day, time, length, or type. Choose Keep as text when a word isn't a date, as in Meet at 5 guys.
Schedule a draft
- Open the draft.
- Choose one of the suggested times. When suggests the first free slot on each day between 9 AM and 6 PM, weekdays first.
- Choose Schedule, or press
⌥S.
The draft stays open with Undo until you move to another item.
To pick the time yourself, click an empty time on the week, or drag the dashed suggestion to another time. On a phone, switch the draft to Edit to set its date and time.
To change a draft's title or details before you schedule it, press ⌥E. To archive a draft, press ⌥D.
Move an event back to the Inbox
Open the event and choose Move to Inbox, or press ⌥I. From the calendar, right-click the event and choose Move to... › Inbox. The event leaves the calendar and becomes a draft. It keeps its length, details, reminders, and repeat schedule.
Move to Inbox is not offered for locked events, birthdays, subscriptions, habits, or events from connected and read-only calendars.
