What's new

What changed in When, newest first.

What's new

Each day lists the changes you can see in the app, then the fixes. Dates are in Japan time.

October 2026

October 30

Fixed:

  • If When's servers stop answering, the waitlist, username, and AI app connection pages say so and keep trying, instead of sending you to sign in again.
  • On an iPad, holding an event or empty time no longer brings up the text magnifier or selects text across the page.
  • In Time on a phone, a held event lifts with a short buzz on phones that support it, and letting go without moving leaves it in place instead of opening its menu.
  • Dragging an event you can't move, such as a holiday or an event on a shared calendar, now says why next to the pointer instead of doing nothing.
  • On a phone or iPad, touch and hold an event to move it again; a quick swipe still scrolls or changes days.

October 29

AI apps read your calendar the way you do. Every event a connected app or the When agent reads now carries its time in words, in your timezone, with the clocks and zones a change needs, and a mark on text someone else may have written. Apps can search by event type and status, find your next or last match by name, and add, change or archive several events in one step. Connect an AI app

Move and copy on the calendar. Choose Move to date… or Copy to… in an event's menu, use the arrow keys to choose a destination, then press Enter to place it. Hold Option or Alt while dragging one event to leave a copy, or select several items and drag them together. See Move or copy an event.

Place Inbox drafts on the calendar. Drag a draft onto Week, Month, or Column view to preview its date and time before placing it. On a phone, choose Schedule, pick the destination in the grid, and choose Place or Cancel.

Smoother event dragging. An event lifts when you pick it up and glides into place when you let go, and a tinted outline marks where it will land. Dragging between the all-day row and the time grid reshapes the event as it crosses, and holding it at the side of Week view steps through the days. See Move or copy an event.

Suggestions on Claude. Event suggestions and browser extension captures now run on Anthropic's Claude, the same provider as the When agent, in one request per title. A suggested label from your existing labels now appears as a chip you can accept or keep off. AI title suggestions

Also fixed:

  • Account security changes ask you to verify. Changing your sign-in email, setting up or removing an authenticator, deleting your account, and signing out devices require a recent sign-in. Changes also ask for your existing authenticator when one is set up. Email-change messages name your new sign-in address. If you later use the old address, When asks before creating a separate account.
  • The + in Week view's all-day row creates an event on the first click.
  • Stuck changes speak up. A change the server refuses now shows as not synced right away, with Retry and Discard, whatever its title says. A change that keeps failing on this device for the same reason stops retrying after three tries and waits for you the same way. If the browser closes When's saved data under an open tab, the sync status asks you to reload instead of failing quietly. Troubleshooting

October 28

Gaming and Space & Sky collections. Gaming brings PC, PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox, and Gaming Events together with new artwork; general Online Sales stays separate. Space & Sky pairs rocket launches with eclipses, meteor showers, seasons, and optional Moon phases. Browse all six collections in Discover.

Submenus open in place. Choosing a row with more options, like Event type, Theme, or Move to, now slides its choices into the same menu with a back row at the top, instead of opening a second menu beside it. Press the right arrow to go in and the left arrow to come back.

A softer light mode. Menus and tooltips are now dark frosted glass, so the row you point at no longer turns a heavy gray. Mini calendars mark the days you're looking at in light cyan, with today in a colored chip. On your phone, the calendar sits on white, the controls at the bottom are dark glass, and weekdays read Mo, Tu, and so on.

A clearer mini calendar. Weekdays read as two letters, such as Mo and Tu, and today stands out in a lighter teal. When the sidebar's mini calendar shows one week, its days are taller, the weekday letters slide along with each week, and the first of a month shows the month's name, such as Nov. See Move between dates.

Every event in Month on your phone. When Month shows event names, a busy week now grows tall enough to show all its events instead of a count of the rest, and its dates stay at the top as you scroll through it. The grid runs edge to edge, and today's date sits in a colored chip. See Use When on your phone.

A calmer phone layout. On your phone, pages other than the calendar sit on a soft gray, with a floating header that content scrolls under, and the calendar's bottom controls are light glass in light mode. Menus and Settings share one roomier row, and going into a section or submenu slides it in and back. Opening a sheet, a new event, or Ask When no longer brings up the keyboard until you tap where you want to type, and tapping a page's title takes you back. See Use When on your phone.

Up to six days in Time on your phone. Time now shows one to six days at once, and today's column header is filled in so you can find it at a glance. See Use When on your phone.

On Screen. What to Watch (US) is now On Screen in Discover. It keeps the same seven calendars for US theatrical openings, anime episodes, and streaming service updates.

Also fixed:

  • The AI chat message box shows a text cursor across its whole area, not just over the text line.
  • Discover artwork now fits its card, desktop, phone, and setup frames without clipping the main subjects.
  • The mini calendar's first page change after opening When slides smoothly instead of leaving a blank space for a moment.
  • The sidebar's mini calendar turns its page as you scroll or swipe the calendar, instead of once the grid comes to rest.
  • Closing Settings or the calendar manager over a Discover or shared calendar no longer blanks the calendar for a moment.
  • Small Dashboard cards on your phone, such as Time progress and Timezone clock, sit side by side again instead of each filling a row.

October 27

AI title suggestions. A new event's title, or a confirmation you paste into it, can now suggest the event's type, a label, and details such as a location, flight times, or when to be reminded. They need a plan that includes AI chat and AI features on in Settings → AI. AI title suggestions.

Anime Episodes adds 45 confirmed releases across the four US streaming services, including TANK CHAIR on Prime Video. New episode coverage reaches November 22, with release breaks preserved and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 grouped into its episodes 1–10 batch.

A daily briefing that's easier to skim. The briefing now opens with a sentence on the shape of your day, then lists overlaps, today's items by start time, free time, and tomorrow under short headings. Every event and calendar it names is a link that opens it. See Use the When agent.

Clearer calendar names in Discover. The Canada and United States collections are now Living in Canada and Living in the US, so they no longer share a name with their country calendars. Sky is now Sky Events. Filters in the streaming, Formula 1, and Japan calendars are now grouped under Topics. See Discover and Subscriptions.

A new Inbox layout. The Inbox list now floats in its own panel beside your calendar, which shows the full week or month. Move through the list with the arrow keys to see each item on the calendar, and press Enter to open one in the panel. See Inbox.

Clearer view-only mode after a trial. When your trial ends, buttons you can't use stay greyed out instead of failing after you fill in a form, and Subscribe sits at the top of the menu on your phone. Plan & billing shows when your trial ended and links to your export. Plan and billing.

Also fixed:

  • The When agent answers agenda questions from current calendar data after items are archived outside chat.
  • The When agent answers calendar questions from current items, keeping events you archived outside chat out of its answer.
  • The When agent keeps event times correct when editing across time zones.
  • The When agent uses your event's date and time zone to save the local time you requested, including daylight saving changes and updated time zone rules.
  • On the phone List, check-off circles no longer show over the periods pinned at the top.
  • A plan that fails to load no longer takes over the app. If When can't load your plan, it keeps using the last plan it loaded, and the rest of the app keeps working.
  • Releases with a single confirmed time no longer display that time twice in Discover and event summaries.
  • Removed the retired Streaming Releases (US), Sports Highlights, and World Festivals calendars.
  • Signing in keeps the new account in this browser's account list when an older request finishes afterward.
  • Startup messages distinguish opening a page, loading a calendar, and preparing its grid.

October 26

Quicker draft confirmations. When you ask only to save a draft, the agent can finish as soon as it saves. Keep adding details in the same conversation. See Use the When agent.

New ways to start a chat with your agent. The Dashboard and an empty chat suggest Recap my week and When am I free?, which send right away, and Add an event… and Look up a date…, which start the message for you to finish. While the agent works, its first sentence shows next to the loader, so you can see what it's doing. See Use the When agent.

Save a draft while checking availability. When you ask for both, the agent can save your unscheduled draft while checking your calendar. The saved draft appears as soon as it is ready. See Use the When agent.

Quicker edits to event notes. Your agent can add to or replace a non-repeating event's notes directly from the calendar view. Other event details stay intact, and concurrent edits still trigger a fresh read. See Use the When agent.

The When agent runs on Claude. The agent now uses Claude Haiku, an AI model made by Anthropic, and starts replying sooner. See AI privacy and safety for what it sends.

Ask your agent about Inbox items. Briefings, suggestions, and drafts in the Inbox now have a field for asking the When agent about them. Ask why it suggested something, have it change a suggestion before you accept it, or have it plan a draft. Press ⌥R to start typing. See Inbox.

A clearer Inbox layout. Each pane's header now sits inside its own pane, and each list row shows what it is: the calendar's avatar for an invitation, and your agent's mark for a briefing or suggestion. The day pane jumps back with Today, and quick add looks like a text field. See Inbox.

Light mode. Choose Light or System under Settings > General > Theme. Light is designed on its own, with white panels, a soft slate background, and brighter event colors. System follows your device's appearance. Dark stays the default.

Also fixed:

  • Mobile edits and extension captures stay open while your account reconnects, and extension sign-out clears saved account caches during recovery.
  • Your agent follows your saved time zone when When is open on devices in different time zones.
  • The When agent offers Retry when its delivery service cannot be reached, while keeping the reply open for a late answer.
  • Accepted When agent messages are scheduled by the server, so closing a tab does not leave them waiting for another message.
  • The agent finds free hours around timed events, without treating all-day events marked Busy as a fully booked day.
  • The When agent shows what it's about to do as soon as it starts checking or changing your calendar.
  • When you ask the When agent to add an event at a time that's already taken, it adds the event and tells you what it overlaps.
  • The When agent interprets relative dates from today, even when you are viewing a different week.
  • Changing an all-day event's date preserves its reminder time and skip-if-done setting.
  • Unavailable Discover links explain that the calendar may have moved and offer a way back to Discover.
  • Collapsed event summaries follow your 12-hour or 24-hour time format, including reminders and times in another zone.
  • Reopening a saved flight restores its accepted journey after an invalid edit, while keeping unrelated edits that still need to save.
  • Invalid flight dates keep their warning visible after you close Journey, without showing a misleading flight status.
  • The Inbox badge now counts agent suggestions and briefings alongside waiting requests, with a number in desktop navigation and the phone menu.
  • When keeps your saved calendar through temporary sign-in outages and tells you when your session has ended, with a clear way to sign in again.
  • Removed sidebar widgets stay removed when Countdown updates its next recurring event.
  • Swiping Column view with a finger on an iPad or other tablet moves through the months.

October 25

Plan events together. Start with a rough idea and the agent saves a draft, then adds details as you talk. Open the saved receipt to edit it in Drafts, or ask the agent to schedule it when you are ready. See Use the When agent.

See the agent get started. The agent gives a short opening response while it works, with saved changes appearing as they happen. See Use the When agent.

AI settings in one place. Settings has a new AI section with the AI features switch, the When agent and its automations, and Event suggestions, which moved there from General. When the agent can't be turned on, its switch stays in view and says why. AI apps such as Claude stay in Integrations. See Use the When agent.

Outlook Calendar is coming soon. Settings → Integrations lists it as Coming soon.

Full-height editors and chat on phones. The event editor, the period editor, and the When agent chat open at full height on a phone. A sheet you swipe keeps the speed of your swipe when you let go, and its bottom edge moves with the keyboard. The chat opens with the keyboard down, so tap the message field to type.

Also fixed:

  • In When installed on an iPad Home Screen, the top bar no longer slides under the status bar's blur.
  • Swiping Month view with a finger on an iPad or other tablet moves to the next or previous month.

October 24

Earlier Discover links keep working. When a calendar is renamed, its earlier links open the same calendar and update to its current address.

Your previous usernames stay yours. Changing your username permanently reserves the old one to your account. You can rename once every 30 days. New usernames use hyphens in place of underscores. See My account.

Also fixed:

  • Attaching or sending an image in the agent chat no longer makes the chat jump: "Uploading image…" shows beside the image, and a sent image stays on screen while it saves.
  • The Undo button under your agent's reply is no longer cut off on its left edge on phones.
  • The Privacy Policy now explains that copies can remain in daily backups for up to seven days after data is deleted from the live system.
  • Billing recovery. When an existing subscription needs attention, Plan & billing offers Manage billing so you can resolve it without starting another subscription.
  • When preserves queued changes while an app update is required, keeps supported calendar data usable when newer data arrives, and adds recovery controls for failed mobile saves.
  • Custom types. Adding an existing type back to a calendar makes it available in type pickers and move destinations again. Removing it hides it from new choices while keeping the type on existing items.
  • File imports now explain that calendar members can see item details marked Private or Free/busy before you import into a shared calendar.
  • Changing one repeat's notes or other details keeps its unchanged details linked to the series, including later series updates.
  • JSON exports preserve individual repeat edits and cleared details when you import them again. Export and import your data
  • Duplicate subscriptions no longer interrupt paid access, and an open subscription prevents another checkout.
  • Timed events created in the app save the timezone you are viewing before they sync. Older queued writes and restored backups keep their original schedule and Undo behavior.
  • Older When JSON exports still import when they contain extra fields When no longer uses. Exports from an unsupported newer format ask you to update before importing. Import When data from JSON

October 23

Chat composer controls. Upload, Expand, and Send sit together on the right, with Send last, on the Dashboard and in the sidebar. The buttons have tighter spacing and sit closer to the edge.

Anime Episodes. Anime Schedule is now Anime Episodes. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Clearer calendar links. Discover links now follow calendar names, including Formula 1, Anime Episodes, and Sports Highlights. Canada and United States collections have distinct links from their country calendars. Existing events, filters, and subscriptions are preserved. See Discover and subscriptions.

Drawings stay on their dates. New Month and Column drawings stay attached to their dates when the week starts on another day or the layout changes. Column view keeps dates with drawings visible even when they have no events. See Draw on the calendar.

Formula 1. Formula 1 Race Weekends is now Formula 1 in Discover.

Discover calendars. Japan Holidays & Travel is now Japan. World Festivals has been removed from Discover; existing subscribers keep their calendar history. See Discover and subscriptions.

Formula 1. Find Formula 1 in Entertainment in Discover. Follow race weekends and selected fan dates with its existing topic filters. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Clearer months and today on your phone. In List, each month now starts with its name and a line across the list, and today's label stands out from the other days with its date beside it. See Use When on your phone.

Reminders by email and notification. Reminders no longer pop up inside When. They reach you as emails and as notifications on your phone or in your browser, whichever you set up in Notifications settings.

Settings groups. General now has Time & region, Calendar defaults, and Event editing, with AI suggestions under Event editing. Brighter field labels, tighter rows, and dividers beneath group headings make the groups easier to scan. See General settings.

Also fixed:

  • Event and period notes use the same saved text across When clients, with imported descriptions kept separately.
  • AI calendar searches indicate when more matches may exist beyond the search limits.

October 22

Suggestions from your agent. Once a day, the When agent looks for birthdays on your calendars that happen only once and suggests making each one repeat every year, in your Inbox under From your agent. Nothing changes until you accept, and Undo puts it back. Turn it off under Settings → Integrations → Automations. See Use the When agent.

Anime Schedule. Anime Episodes (US) is now Anime Schedule. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Apple TV calendar. Follow confirmed US premieres, episode drops, and service events in Discover, with separate topic filters. Apple TV also joins What to Watch (US) and is an optional replacement for the retired Streaming Releases calendar. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Seasonal weather in country calendars. Japan, Thailand and Australia now offer optional periods with typical weather, regional notes and official sources. Enable Seasons and weather in the calendar's Discover filters. Planning windows describe usual conditions and do not predict the weather for your dates. See Discover and Subscriptions.

More for Formula 1 fans. Formula 1 Race Weekends now includes game releases, films and series, pre-season testing, and fan events. Choose the categories you want to follow in Discover.

Swipe the Mini calendar. Swipe sideways on a trackpad over the sidebar's Mini calendar to move it a month, or a week when it shows one week. Picking a day now sets Now aside until you choose Today, so the list stays on the day you picked. Choose and arrange widgets.

Weather periods in more country calendars. Canada, the US, Mexico, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, India, Indonesia and South Korea now offer optional periods with typical conditions, regional limits and planning notes. Enable Seasons and weather in Discover. The month ranges describe usual climate, not a forecast. See Discover and Subscriptions.

More for Nintendo fans. Nintendo now has filters for releases, Switch Online, hardware, events, sales, and service dates, with verified Zelda hardware, amiibo, a tournament livestream, and a sale deadline. Check each item for region, membership, and platform details. See Discover and Subscriptions.

More for PlayStation fans. The PlayStation calendar now covers PS Plus, hardware, sales, and service dates alongside game releases, with topic filters and region and tier details. Availability windows use Periods, with separate events for claim and sale deadlines. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Prime Video and HBO Max calendars. Follow confirmed US releases and episode drops in Discover, with separate topic filters for each service. Both are also included in What to Watch (US). See Discover and Subscriptions.

One card at the top of the sidebar. Each calendar's sidebar now opens with its name, Mini calendar, and list in one card. Select the name to switch calendars. The list starts with the day's periods and what's happening now, and picking a day in the Mini calendar starts it there. The Mini calendar's selection now glides as you move through the calendar. Widgets you add sit below the card. Choose and arrange widgets.

Service calendars replace Streaming Releases. Follow Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, or HBO Max in Discover. What to Watch now includes those four services alongside Movie Releases and Anime Episodes. Existing subscribers keep Streaming Releases history and choose whether to switch. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Theatrical releases. Movie Releases (US) is now Theatrical releases, with more confirmed US openings and official film artwork and links. Open a film in its calendar preview to see the details. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Seasonal weather in Vietnam. Vietnam's calendar now offers optional periods for Hanoi, Hue and Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, with typical conditions and planning notes. Enable Seasons and weather in its Discover filters. The dates describe usual climate, not a forecast. See Discover and Subscriptions.

The When agent answers in every chat. The sidebar chat, /, the Dashboard's chat field, and Ask When on a phone now open one ongoing conversation with the When agent, which reads the days on screen, makes the changes you ask for, and writes a daily briefing to your Inbox. It replaces the earlier assistant, so Plan mode, Chat history, and separate chats are gone. See Use the When agent.

More for Xbox fans. Xbox now has filters for releases, Game Pass, hardware, events, sales, and service dates, with verified Game Pass arrivals and departures, the X25 console launch, and Toronto FanFest. Check each item for region, membership, and platform details. See Discover and Subscriptions.

Also fixed:

  • Season blocks in calendar previews. Discover now shows Periods with their tinted calendar style in month previews, Up next, and busy-day lists. Apple TV also has season blocks for Nocturne, Stick, and 12 12 12, from each confirmed premiere through its finale. Episode drops stay separate. See Discover and Subscriptions.
  • Browser tab titles inside the app now name just the page you are on, such as "Inbox" or "Settings / Notifications", or the calendar you are viewing, and no longer show the date.
  • Discover’s Up next lists events only; Periods stay in the month preview and busy-day lists.

October 21

Connected AI apps can find free time. Ask Claude or another connected app for an open hour, and it checks your own and shared calendars within your usual day, so it can suggest a time without working out the gaps itself. See Connect Claude or another AI app.

Connected AI apps understand When. When an app such as Claude connects, When now explains how calendars, periods, event types and repeating events work, so the app finds the right events and makes changes in fewer steps. It can also search several calendars at once and see which events repeat. See Connect Claude or another AI app.

Disney+ calendar. Follow US Disney+ releases, episode drops, live events, and Disney business dates in Discover. Filter by topic and brand, and turn on US theatrical openings when you want them.

Netflix calendar. Follow Netflix releases and announced dates in Discover. Choose new releases, episode drops, live events, leaving soon, Netflix events, and business announcements with separate filters.

Periods stay in view on your phone. In the List, a period such as a trip now pins to the top while you scroll through its days and counts down the days left. Two periods share one row instead of stacking, and period rows take less room.

Reorganized Settings. Settings opens on General, groups its pages into Preferences, Account, and Data, and calls Trash Archive. You can now find any setting from the command menu, add a second time zone to week view, set Your day for AI scheduling, pick a default calendar for new events, and see every event type's default reminders on Notifications. See General settings.

Also fixed:

  • Chat history connection errors stay in the panel with a clear retry option. Saved requests wait for you to send them after recovery.
  • If a chat update stops halfway, you can see which changes were saved and which still need checking. Completed updates stay saved as you continue.
  • Chat can update several existing events or recurring series in one request, keeping each completed change and its approval history.
  • Location maps offer a retry when an address request stalls and load less code before showing a preview.
  • Replaced holiday, Sky, and gaming calendars have been removed from accounts. Existing subscriptions to the active country, Sky, and platform calendars stay as they are. You can follow any additional calendars from Discover.

October 20

Find calendars from Search. Search now finds public calendars and collections from Discover by name or tagline. Open a preview with the keyboard or a click.

Clearer calendar previews in Discover. Subscribe now sits right under the calendar's name, and Up next lists the next few events by name. The count under the name shows how many events you would get in the next year with the options you picked under Show on calendar. See Discover and subscriptions.

A brighter app icon. The installed app's icon is now a white When mark on a blue to green gradient, so it is easy to spot among your other apps.

Keyboard event selection. Use Option/Alt+J and K to select events in start-time order, then Enter to open one. Option/Alt+arrows move selected events by the snap step or a day, with Undo. Keyboard shortcuts

Period and color touches. Periods now have a faint border in their own color, and their titles are brighter in the dark theme. Subscriptions default to Citron Navy, so they no longer share a color with bills, and Chocolate is a lighter copper to plum brown that sits better with the other gradients.

Clearer Add sheets on phones. The + button now opens a titled Add sheet with larger rows for an event or a period, plus New calendar, so a new calendar is two taps away. In the Calendars sheet, Add calendar opens its options in the same sheet with a back button, and New calendar fills the screen's width through setup.

Reminders now look like your events instead of alerts: the event's color, its time and place, and how soon it starts. They appear in their own corner, away from other notifications. Snooze a reminder for 5 minutes, 15 minutes, an hour, or until the event starts, and it comes back right on time.

Stacked events from Discover. When calendars you follow carry the same event on the same day, such as a game launching on PC and PlayStation, it shows once, with its color swatch striped in each calendar's color. Open it to see every other copy under Related, including later release dates on other platforms.

Optional Thailand practical dates. Enable Practical dates under Topics to show Udon Thani Expo 2026, planned for November 1, 2026 through March 14, 2027, with a Tourism Authority of Thailand source link. The choice is off by default.

A tab icon that follows the day. The When mark in your browser tab is back to the plain W, and it now changes color with the time of day, matching the W at the top of the app.

Notifications now stay as long as they matter. A plain confirmation leaves after a few seconds, every timed notification has a Close button that shows the time running out as a fill draining behind it, so you can close it early, and errors, reminders, and anything in progress stay until you deal with them. Switching to another tab no longer lets an Undo expire while you are away.

Swipe a notification sideways or down to dismiss it. On a phone, the calendar's bottom buttons step aside while a notification is showing and come back when it leaves. Notifications also show the frosted glass finish they were meant to have.

Also fixed:

  • Scheduling account deletion now confirms the 30-day restore window after sign-out. Restoring an account confirms success when your calendar opens.
  • AI schedule summaries check the requested day's calendar items before answering, including periods and stays that overlap that day.
  • Selected Australian holidays and NSW/Sydney clock reminders now include source links.
  • More Canada events now link to supporting government sources. Descriptions distinguish optional holidays, civic observances, and When planning windows.
  • Chat keeps loaded messages and lets you retry when its live history connection fails.
  • Chat schedule summaries include events from the calendars visible in your current view, including repeating and all-day events.
  • Clock Changes reminders for Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and NSW/Sydney now include source links.
  • Closing a dialog returns keyboard control immediately, so search and date navigation work during its fade.
  • Discover calendar details now open complete, without content shifting in after they appear.
  • Discover calendars and their events now cite only official sources, such as government sites, publishers, platforms, and event organizers.
  • Ctrl+A or ⌘A in an open event editor no longer selects every event on the calendar.
  • The event editor labels the All day action, explains buffer time before you add it, and keeps Push and date reminder choices readable on phones.
  • Typing the next event's title straight after creating one no longer adds letters to the event you just made, and Add event on a phone opens with the title ready to type.
  • Flight creation opens both departure and arrival time zones with the flight duration before you save.
  • Flight Journey now explains that changing a time zone keeps the clock time and can change the flight duration.
  • Germany holiday entries and Berlin clock reminders now link to their governing sources and dated reference tables. Descriptions retain the verified regional scope.
  • Remapped Enter keys open an included calendar's labels without starting a drag.
  • An invalid flight shows its schedule error when you try to save, and Close or Escape can discard it with Undo.
  • Japan's travel periods and provisional equinoxes, and Thailand's 2027 bank holidays, include official source links.
  • Selected national holidays in the Japan calendar now include Cabinet Office source links.

October 19

Retiring calendars are reviewed together. One Calendar updates notice now lists every retiring calendar you follow, grouped by the calendar that replaces them, so a replacement such as Sky is one choice instead of one notice per old calendar.

Calmer month view. Month view drops the lines between days, marks today with a soft tint, and highlights the whole day under your pointer. Zoomed out to several months, each day now shows the same highlight and + for adding an all-day event.

Curated calendar artwork. Each calendar and collection has its own papercraft cover and thumbnail. PlayStation uses blue, Xbox green, Nintendo red, and PC teal across their calendar and event colors.

A new Discover. Discover now browses like a storefront: topic chips, a Featured row that changes theme each visit, cover-art collections, and every calendar grouped by topic with its own icon and one-line description. Topics replace the search box, Video games has its own topic, and calendars you follow show a green check. See Find calendars in Discover.

Event colors. Hotels now use Aubergine Apricot, meetings Cobalt Tone, birthdays Gold Iris, bills Saffron Lagoon, and other events Slate Tone by default. Gold, Silver, and Bronze look more metallic, Midnight is calmer, Orchid Moss runs from moss to orchid, Jade Lemon is now Chocolate, and the light ends of the Tone gradients are deeper so times stay readable.

More holiday calendars in Discover. Follow Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, and World Festivals, with selected dates for 2026 and 2027, source links, topic filters, and original papercraft artwork. See Discover and subscriptions.

Lists and pages no longer stretch and spring back when you scroll past their ends, so When feels more like an app on your phone.

On a phone, pull down from the top of a page to reload When. An arrow turns as you pull and spins while the app reloads. Like Reload app in the menu, it waits for your changes to save first.

Sheets that move with your thumb. On a phone, swiping up on a list in a sheet now raises the sheet to full height before the list scrolls, and swiping down at the top of the list lowers or closes the sheet, like a native app.

Refreshed sidebar. The selected calendar or section now sits inside a single teal ring, and Main has a solid tile that fills with teal when it's open. Toasts use a softer glass, and primary buttons use the green-to-blue gradient.

Calendar themes. New Booking, Subscriptions, Birthdays, Habits, and Travel calendars start with their event type's colors, and new events in them take the calendar's theme unless you pick a color or a type.

Also fixed:

  • Requesting an account-deletion code sends one confirmation email, without an extra sign-in email.
  • The authenticator app row in Settings now shows a quiet check and "On" instead of a green Enabled badge.
  • Changing a non-repeating event to Birthday starts a yearly birthday series. Existing repeat choices stay as they are.
  • Events with no color of their own now show their calendar's color in Week, Month, and Column, as they already did in lists and widgets, instead of gray-blue.
  • Repeated create actions keep one new calendar while the first request finishes.
  • Choosing Not now or closing Calendar updates keeps it dismissed for the rest of the tab's session, including after a reload.
  • Selected Canada events now link to their government sources, including Halloween, commemorative dates, and federal public service days off.
  • Resending an account-deletion code confirms that it was sent. The final button says Schedule account deletion, and the restore screen uses the same UTC dates as the deletion email.
  • Discover event previews show custom details such as a developer or venue alongside their description and source links.
  • Discover calendar thumbnails have clearer papercraft subjects and more breathing room, with refreshed covers for countries, entertainment, and other topics.
  • The green check on subscribed Discover calendars no longer has a dark outline.
  • The phone create menu explains periods. Event controls explain how to make an event all day, what a buffer is, and which date a day-based reminder uses. Push reminders show when delivery needs a device, while keeping the in-app reminder.
  • A timed event's collapsed summary shows its own time zone first, followed by the date and time in your zone when they differ.
  • Removed the expired Firefly FLTA008 planning window from Space Launches while its replacement date remains unconfirmed.
  • Menus stay above notices, so a “Created” notice cannot block Add event on a phone.
  • Choosing Month returns to one-month zoom after viewing several months or a year. Paging keeps your zoom level in the URL so it survives a reload.
  • Oversized event notes now keep the specific size-limit message in sync errors after a reload.
  • A new event now opens when you tap it while it is still saving, instead of doing nothing.
  • Period titles are easier to read in dark mode.
  • Phantom Blade Zero's PlayStation event now includes its developer and official game page, with a clearer note about regional release dates.
  • On a phone, events and periods in List, Time, and Month now keep the same colors, styles, and icons they have on a computer, and periods look the same as they do in the week view.
  • Today brings the phone's date strip back after browsing ahead or behind, even when today is already selected.
  • On a phone, notifications now appear above the buttons at the bottom of the calendar instead of covering them.
  • On a phone, holding empty time to add an event keeps the full default length when your finger shifts slightly, and dragging stretches it instead of shrinking it first.
  • Calendar links in event details no longer suggest subscribing to a retired calendar.
  • You can remove the Habits widget from its menu. It stays pinned on a Habits calendar.
  • Retiring calendar details now explain when switching carries your topic choices into the replacement calendar.
  • Saving on a phone no longer stalls for up to a minute when When is also open in another window or browser tab.
  • Search finds events from subscribed calendars and the calendars included in your collections.
  • Sign-in help explains “We can't reach your calendar” and “Sign in didn't finish,” including when to retry and what to send support.
  • Sync errors explain when text exceeds the 64 KiB limit, stay dismissed when later changes wait behind the same error, and keep their controls usable while an event editor is open.
  • Thailand no longer marks two 2026 weekend observances as bank closures, and holds five unsupported 2027 weekend entries until official confirmation.

October 18

Earlier chat messages. Saved conversations open at their recent messages. Choose Load earlier messages to read older turns while keeping your current response in view.

Country calendars. Discover groups holidays and optional clock reminders under country calendars. Your existing holiday choices and history stay available when you choose replacements. Clock reminders name their selected jurisdiction and start off in country calendars.

Calendar replacements. When a curated calendar stops updating, you can choose recommended replacements or keep the old calendar and its history. Recommended replacements preserve your saved topic choices. See Discover and subscriptions.

Curated calendar previews. Open an event in a curated calendar preview to read its full description and follow its source links.

Flatter, more consistent buttons. Actions use simpler fills, with matching hover and selected states. Label menus and booking actions follow the same button styles as the rest of the app. Keyboard focus stays visible.

Times in List. On a phone, List shows when each event starts and ends, like "3 - 4 pm", so you can see how long it runs without opening it. Trip itineraries read the same way. Use When on your phone.

One less step to three days. On a phone, Month zooms in from weeks with titles straight to three days across. The taller weeks-with-details level is gone; three days across still shows each item's time.

A week strip that follows you. On a phone, the week above the List and Time now slides a day at a time as you scroll or swipe, instead of jumping a week at once, and settles on whole days when you stop. Swiping the strip just looks ahead or back without moving your calendar; tap a day to go there.

Separate gaming calendars. Discover offers PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox and PC calendars, plus Gaming Events. Choose replacements for your current game calendars while keeping your history and platform choices.

Quick add makes repeating events. Type a repeat with a day or time, like standup Monday 9am every weekday, in the Drafts row or the command menu, and it adds the series. A title that mentions a checkout, like hotel checkout 11am, is now an 11 AM event, not a hotel stay that starts at checkout. See Inbox.

Related events. Open an event under Related to read its details, including public events from calendars you haven't subscribed to. Use Back to return, or follow the calendar link to its Discover preview.

Sky topics. Follow eclipses, meteor showers, seasons, and Moon phases from one calendar. Choose your topics in Discover. Moon phases start off for new subscriptions. If you already follow one of the older calendars, you can choose to switch while keeping its topic; historical calendar links remain available.

Thailand holiday choices. Thailand replaces Thailand Public Holidays in Discover with the same government-holiday and bank-closure choices. Existing subscribers can choose the replacement while keeping their old calendar history. The 2027 government list remains pending; those dates continue to show bank closures only.

Also fixed:

  • Profile, image upload, and export validation errors preserve the guidance you need to correct them.
  • A birthday whose name already says birthday, like "Tyler's Birthday", reads the same in the Birthdays tracker as on the calendar.
  • Calendar connection and permanent-deletion errors now distinguish sign-in, permission, and temporary service failures.
  • Discover search now finds Formula 1 calendars when you type F1.
  • The event editor stays open when you move an event to a date in another week, and an overnight event moved to a new day stays overnight. On a phone, the date and time pickers in a new event now have a solid background.
  • F1 events now explain that session times use your selected time zone. Sports Highlights no longer repeats the Austin and Las Vegas races covered by the F1 calendar.
  • Opening a direct link to your account now waits for your account to finish loading instead of incorrectly showing Page not found.
  • Dragging on the week grid to create an event lands on the hour when you start or end a few pixels from an hour line, and the end lands where you let go. You can also resize an event by grabbing anywhere along its bottom edge, not just the small grip.
  • Large calendar updates. Calendar sync reads large items in smaller pages. Oversized descriptions and notes now show an error naming the item to shorten, while a rejected offline change stays available in Sync status for review. See Troubleshoot a saved change.
  • Pressing Enter or Space on a mini calendar day selects that day without also selecting its week.
  • Picking a new start date keeps an overnight event's duration and closes the date picker.
  • Opening When after it has been in the background no longer flashes a connection warning. The notice now reads "Offline · reconnecting" and only appears after a minute of trying while When is on screen. A slow sign-in check at startup is now retried after 5 seconds instead of holding the app for 15 seconds or more.
  • Replacement calendars follow your topics. Recommendations leave out calendars that do not match your current topics. You can choose additional calendars, and the dialog explains that doing so can turn on topics you currently have off.
  • Opening a saved event or period no longer sends stray keystrokes into its title.
  • US Tax Deadlines now moves federal deadlines past federal and DC legal holidays, correcting four dates in 2028.

October 17

Approve a new AI app from the link it gives you. The first time an app like Claude asks about your calendar, it links you to a page in When that shows just that app. Choose what it can do and select Allow access. See Connect Claude or another AI app.

Add an event from the command menu. Press ⌘K and type an event with a day or time, such as Lunch with Ana friday at 1, then choose Add to put it on your calendar. See Use the command menu.

The event editor shows which calendar a saved event is on. Choose it to move the event to another calendar.

Faster List and Month on phones. The List and Month open and scroll faster on a busy calendar. In Month, each pinch now moves one step between the year, two months, the week levels, and three days, once you lift your fingers. Use When on your phone.

See your workout week at a glance. The Fitness tracker shows each workout as a row with its days marked, a bar for each of the last eight weeks, and a Still to do list of only what's left. Missed workouts stay quiet until you point at them, and once the week is done, next week's workouts show up. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

A simpler habit editor, and reminders that know you're done. A new habit opens with Days (tap a day off, or choose Weekdays) and Time (Any time or a set time), with Notes and Labels a tap away. Remind sends a reminder at the time you pick, such as 8 pm, and skips days you've already checked off. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, habits, and trips.

Fitness calendars are now Habits calendars. Track daily habits like meditating or reading next to workout plans. A new habit repeats every day at no set time, each habit keeps its own run, such as 13 days, and the tracker leads with what's due today. Your Fitness calendars moved over with their history. The Streaks widget is now the Habits widget, which you can add to any sidebar. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, habits, and trips.

A calmer phone calendar. The week strip highlights the days you're looking at as you scroll the List or swipe Time, and Today sits at the top of every layout. Time shows up to four days, and in Month a tap on any day opens it with an Add event button. Sheets drag up to fill the screen and snap to half on the way down. Use When on your phone.

Time zone on your phone. The navigation menu shows the time zone your calendar uses, and you can tap it to choose another. When your phone is in a different zone from the one you chose, the calendar asks whether to switch. Use When on your phone.

Pick a currency for each subscription. Click the symbol in front of a subscription's price to choose any currency, and set the one new subscriptions start in with Default currency in Settings → Calendar defaults. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, habits, and trips.

Subscriptions with their logos. A new Subscriptions calendar offers services in groups, from streaming and music to AI, gaming, and Apple and Google plans, each with its logo. A known service's logo leads its renewals on the calendar and its editor, a free trial is a choice next to Next charge, and Notify, Notes, and Labels wait as buttons until you need them. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, habits, and trips.

Add to a trip in the editor. On a Travel calendar, Flight, Stay, and Add plan open the editor in that item's own mode, in the trip day's time zone, with only the fields a trip item needs. An empty trip asks What's booked? See Track birthdays, subscriptions, habits, and trips.

Also fixed:

  • The Birthdays tracker uses each person's whole name, so "Aunt Mary" no longer shows as "Aunt".
  • Changing your email no longer sends a second "Sign in to When" email to your old address. Settings now says a second code goes to your new address, and confirms the change once it is done.
  • Settings, Help, and the calendar manager open faster from the calendar, which now stays in place behind them instead of redrawing.
  • A new habit keeps a word like "daily" in its name, since every habit already repeats.
  • Calendars that moved over from Fitness now use the Habits name, icon, and link, unless you renamed them.
  • The whole month in a trip's mini calendar. On a calendar with set dates, such as a Travel calendar, the sidebar's mini calendar and Column view's month headers show every day of the month, with the days outside the dates dimmed.
  • Locations such as Zoom, Google Meet, and meeting links no longer show street maps.
  • On a phone, reloading or sharing the calendar keeps the List, Time, or Month layout you picked.
  • On a phone, Time no longer jumps to another day when you tap the selected day, Today, or the arrows while the month calendar is open above it.
  • On phones, the calendar's header and bottom buttons are a little larger, and tapping an event in Time no longer brings up its ••• button.
  • On a phone, the Year view's title now follows the months you scroll to, and switching to Time opens there.
  • Escape closes Settings again after the window is resized, and Settings opens faster from the sidebar.
  • The keyboard shortcut list now says ↵ opens the focused event, and lists drawing gestures under their own Draw heading, apart from ⇧-drag box select.
  • Signing out now signs out your other When tabs in that browser too. They close your calendar and show You're signed out, so the next person to sign in there can't see it. If a sign-in stops partway, When now says so and offers Try again instead of quietly reopening the sign-in page.
  • Signing out with unsynced changes now lists them, says why they haven't synced, and finishes signing out once they do, and Go back returns to your calendar instead of a blank page.
  • When can't connect for more than a minute while you're online, a sync notice now says so and offers Reload. Changes that can't be sent are listed with Retry and Discard instead of showing as saving forever.
  • On a touch screen, a tap no longer sets off hover effects, such as stacked notifications fanning out under your finger.

October 16

A clearer Birthdays tracker. Each person now has a small date card, the next birthday leads the list, and clicking someone takes you to their birthday on the calendar. Add person opens the birthday editor beside the list, and Add several adds many people at once, from rows or a pasted list. Every tracker calendar also shows the mini calendar above its tracker. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

Calmer hotel details and a bigger map. A hotel's room, price, phone, and confirmation number now read as labeled lines that show in full. Click the confirmation number to copy it, or the phone number to call. A location's map has an expand button that opens it full size, with Open in Maps beside the address. See Plan a trip.

AI apps in Settings are easier to scan and change. Each app shows its access and when it was last used, and its switches save as you change them. See Connect Claude or another AI app.

Photos. Add up to 12 photos to any event from the Photos button in the editor, and pick one as the cover. See Create and edit an event.

Add workouts in the workout editor. On a Fitness calendar, Add workout opens the editor beside the tracker, and anything you add on the calendar repeats every week. The editor offers what suits a workout, such as location, a checklist, and photos. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

On a phone, the menu now has Reload app. It waits for your changes to save, installs any waiting update, and reloads, which helps when When is installed on your Home Screen and has no refresh gesture.

One homepage. The earlier homepage has been retired. Visit /home for the current introduction to When and early access.

Shorter privacy notes in setup. On the Defaults step, what AI features and Analytics share now sits behind the info button beside each setting. See Set up When.

Link previews. A when.day link shared in a message or post now shows a card with the page's title beside the W, including each Docs article and the Privacy, Terms, and Security pages. A public calendar's card lists its next four events, with times in each event's own time zone.

Edit subscriptions in the event editor. Click a subscription to open it on the calendar, where Billing holds its price, whether it renews monthly or yearly, its next charge, when it ends, and any free trial. Known services show in their own color. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

Swipe events in the phone List. Swipe an event left to show Inbox and Archive, or swipe all the way across to archive it. On a repeating event, Remove takes out only that day. See Use When on your phone.

Calmer calendar trackers. Birthdays, Subscriptions, Fitness, and Travel trackers drop lines that repeated the list, keep short lists in one run, and Fitness marks workouts you missed. On a phone, the tracker row shows its headline, such as how soon the next birthday is. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

Also fixed:

  • A link to a calendar you can't open now shows a full page that says whose it is and which account you're signed in with, with buttons to open your own calendar or sign in with another account.
  • Add event now closes the editor and shows the new event right away on phones where saving to the device is slow, instead of leaving the editor open until the save finishes.
  • Opening a calendar link while signed in now shows the loading screen instead of briefly asking you to sign in again.
  • On a touch screen, the first tap on a day mark opens its editor.
  • Pressing Escape to close a date picker now keeps the date you typed instead of going back to the old one.
  • Searching for archive or archived in the command menu finds Trash, where you can restore or permanently delete archived items.
  • Discover artwork and help images stay cached between visits, reducing repeat downloads.
  • Location maps reuse nearby cached map data to load faster.
  • Swiping through Time view with the phone's month strip expanded keeps the selected day in the link, so reopening it returns to the same day.
  • The ••• menu on a period bar now lines up with the bar's arrow and sits at its end, as it does on event bars.
  • Periods stand out in Week and Month views in the dark theme, and a period that hasn't ended no longer looks faded when the clock is pinned for screenshots.
  • On a phone, swiping across a field's name in the event or period editor now scrolls the editor instead of picking the field up to move it.
  • Public calendar pages now open on what's coming up, with recent items below, and periods there no longer show one day too many.
  • Public calendar pages now list every repeat of a recurring event, not only a series that started recently.
  • When checks for a newer version when you open or return to the app, so the update notice can appear while offline support is still downloading. Reload still waits for your edits to be saved on your device.
  • Reconnect stale calendar sync when you return to When or your network comes back.
  • The signed-out page now matches the rest of when.day, with one button to sign back in.
  • Buttons on phones and tablets light up as soon as your finger touches them, so a tap no longer looks ignored.
  • Weekday events now show "every weekday" in the collapsed event editor, or "5 days a week" when viewed in another time zone.

October 15

Authenticator setup in its own window. Setting up or removing an authenticator app now happens in a focused window over Settings. Closing it cancels setup. Account and security.

A calmer command menu. The command menu now matches the app's other windows and drops its footer and per-group key hints. Each command shows only its shortcut, and event results lead with their date, such as "Oct 12 – 14", then how long ago or how soon. See Use the command menu.

Calmer empty states. An empty Inbox shows one column with its typing row, the Drafts widget explains what drafts are for, and Upcoming events says when your next 30 days are clear. Inbox.

Tidier Settings. Buttons share one quiet style, Invites lists your links and the friends who joined, Plan & billing leads with your current plan, active sessions fit on one line, and Integrations lists Google and Outlook with their details in an info button.

Faster assistant changes. When you ask the assistant to add or change one event, it now says what it will do and any default it chose, then makes the change and shows the result card, without waiting on a second reply.

AI app controls. Approve calendar permissions for Claude, Grok, and other MCP apps in Settings → Integrations. Give each connection a name, disconnect it, and review its recent activity. Connect an AI app

New events show where they'll be added. As you type a day and time into a new event's title, the event moves on the calendar to that time, and you can drag it somewhere else. Words between the day and the time no longer get in the way, so "Lunch tomorrow with Sam at 1pm" is at 1 PM, and a meal without a time takes its usual hour. Closing a new event you've typed into now adds it, with Undo on the notice; an untouched one is still discarded. Saving is quicker too, since the calendar no longer redraws everything after each change. See Create and edit an event.

A more open Discover. Categories drop their frames and get more space between them, so each one is easier to scan. Discover and subscriptions.

Bottom sheets on phones. Menus, pickers, event details, and dialogs now slide up from the bottom of the screen with larger rows, within reach of your thumb. Drag a sheet down to close it.

A List that keeps scrolling on phones. The calendar's List now scrolls straight through past and future days instead of stopping at the end of a week, and the week above it follows along. Tap a day in the week to jump there, or tap Today to come back. An empty day reads "Free day!", and tapping it starts an event on that day.

More room to plan on phones. The calendar's Time layout shows one to three days side by side and swipes from day to day, pulling the week down opens the whole month, and tapping the month name jumps to any month. The Dashboard shows your widgets as cards you can open, add, and rearrange, and its chat field opens Ask When. See Use When on your phone.

Floating calendar controls on phones. The calendar's layout buttons, date arrows, filters, Add, and Ask When now float in three groups at the bottom of the screen, within reach of your thumb, and your events scroll underneath them.

Zoomable month on phones. Choose Month in the calendar's bottom bar to scroll through your months, each under its name. Pinch in to see each day's titles and times, or pinch out to a compact month, then two months side by side, then the whole year. The zoom buttons in the corner do the same without pinching. Tap a day to see its events.

A simpler calendar rail. Main shows as a calendar icon like Dashboard and Inbox, and a + at the end of the list adds a calendar.

Sign-up pages match sign-in. Choosing a username, the waitlist, and the other sign-up pages now sit on the same field of quiet lanes as the sign-in page.

A simpler Streaks widget. Each event in the Streaks widget now shows its run and its latest checks, so you can mark a missed day right there, and the top shows how many of today's are done. Today's check is outlined so it's easy to find, and you can move between checks with the arrow keys, in the widget and in the editor's Streak row. See Check off events and keep a streak.

Day tooltips in Time progress. Point at any dot in the year to see its date and how far it is from today. Time progress and the Timezone clock now share their spacing and center in their cards. Choose and arrange widgets.

Type the time into a new event. A new event's title now shows an example, like “Lunch Friday at 1”, and reads the day and time you type. The separate Quick add window and its ⌥Q shortcut are gone; the Inbox and the Drafts widget still read what you type. Create and edit events.

Also fixed:

  • Discover’s Dates included month stays the same across timezones.
  • Dragging out a new event now grows from where you pressed instead of starting at an hour and snapping shorter.
  • After you enter your email code, sign-up and sign-in now go straight to your next page, a few seconds sooner.
  • The homepage's W plays its whole intro in 3D, sliding in and popping up out of the page, instead of switching from a flat logo partway through.
  • The homepage's W spins in with the same motion as the loading screen's W, then pops up out of the page.
  • Editors and the calendar assistant open right away the first time after the app starts, including from keyboard shortcuts, without a loading pause.
  • On an iPad, press and hold an event to move it or release in place for its menu, press and hold empty time to create an event, and swipe anywhere on the calendar to scroll.
  • On an iPad, tapping the calendar list in the sidebar opens it without switching calendars, and calendar and list row menus show without a mouse.
  • Main shows as a tile in the calendar rail like your other calendars, so it reads clearly when the rail is expanded.
  • Moving between the calendar, Dashboard, Inbox, Notes, and the calendar manager keeps the current page on screen until the next one is ready, instead of going blank. Dashboard, Inbox, and Discover also stay visible behind Settings and Help as they open.
  • Settings now warns that links with your old username stop working when you change it, and those links say the page wasn't found instead of asking you to sign in.
  • On phones, When now fills the screen around the notch and home indicator, keeps its bottom bar clear of Safari's toolbar, and opens to a dark screen instead of a white flash when installed on an iPhone.
  • When your browser can't open When's saved data, the app now says so and offers Try again instead of loading forever or showing a general error, and unsent changes stay on your device.
  • Clicking an empty part of the sidebar chat box now puts the cursor in the message field.
  • Small loading indicators, such as the assistant's "Thinking" status, show three wider stripes instead of five thin ones, so the animation reads clearly at that size.
  • Settings and Help open without the calendar behind them going blank first, and Week view stays at the same time of day while they're open and after you close them.
  • The waitlist now edits your profile on the same page, and choosing a username opens the waitlist without a loading screen in between.

October 14

List and Time, Add, and Ask When moved to a toolbar at the bottom within reach of your thumb. Tap the month to open the full month, and the header grows smoothly into it.

Download exports in When. Export a calendar or all your data, then download the file from Recent exports in Settings → My data. Emailed links open the same page, and downloads require the account that requested them. Files remain available for seven days. Export your data

A starting sidebar for planning. New calendars start with a compact Mini calendar, Upcoming events, and Drafts at the bottom for unscheduled plans. Your saved layouts stay as you arranged them. Choose and arrange widgets.

Space launches. Space Launches in Discover now includes JAXA's MMX launch target for October 20 in Japan. Completed Crew-13 and CRS-35 launches have been removed. Browse calendars in Discover

Streaming premieres. Streaming Releases in Discover now includes The Death of Robin Hood on October 16 and The Invite on October 23 on HBO Max, plus The Mosquito Bowl on November 25 on Netflix. Browse calendars in Discover

Also fixed:

  • Restoring account access now preserves the existing trial and completed setup.
  • When checks for updates when you return to the app. Choose Reload on the Update available message when you are ready. Finish and close open editors first; changes saved offline stay on your device through the update.
  • New calendars are included in Main by default. You can turn off Show on Main later.
  • Archiving several drafts shows one notification with a count and an Undo action for the whole batch.
  • Fixed My data sometimes failing to open while your signed-in session was reconnecting.
  • JSON exports follow Calendar to export, just like .ics and CSV exports.
  • Your starter calendars. Setup offers your own Work and Birthdays calendars even when someone has shared calendars with the same name or type.
  • Names saved during account setup now stay saved after signing in again.
  • A normal refresh loads the current app after an update. Open tabs keep their text, and saved offline changes stay on your device.
  • Account setup no longer creates an extra hidden calendar.
  • Calendar startup makes fewer sign-in requests, loads events sooner, and uses a short logo reel every two seconds with a caption for the current step. Recovery controls appear when opening takes too long.
  • Loading text stays on “Opening When” through startup instead of jumping between internal steps. Changes for specific actions fade gently, while the logo keeps looping.

October 13

Export one calendar. Choose a calendar or All calendars for .ics and CSV exports in Settings → My data. JSON remains a full-account backup. Export your data

Calendar starting settings. The starter Mini calendar uses Dot mode, and weekend highlighting starts on. Your saved settings and widget layouts keep their choices.

Clearer emails. Subjects no longer start with a tag such as [Reminder], so the first words you see are the event or the news. The trial reminder now says the day your trial ends and what happens after, and payment reminders say when the amount is due. See Notifications.

Event colors. Hotels use Clay Tone, meetings use Petrol Tone, birthdays use Rose Tone, and reminders use Iris Tone by default. New Birthdays calendars use the same Rose Tone thumbnail.

Founder Plan. The plan is now called the Founder Plan, in Settings, on the waitlist, and in renewal emails. The price, trial, and money-back guarantee are unchanged. See Plan and billing.

Import calendar files. Bring events from an .ics file into a calendar you choose in Settings → My data. Review skipped events before importing, with supported repeat rules and time zones preserved. Import a calendar file

Import WHEN data from JSON. Move calendar items between WHEN accounts using an All my data JSON export. Choose WHEN data (.json) in Settings → My data to preserve event types, labels, reminders, repeat rules, and typed details. Import WHEN data from JSON

Terms, Privacy, and Security. The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are rewritten for launch with the plan, billing, data retention, and deletion details in full. A new Security page explains how When protects your data and how to report a vulnerability.

AI and analytics in setup. Review AI features, editor suggestions, and browser analytics on the existing Defaults step. New accounts start with AI enabled, and browsers without an opt-out start with analytics enabled. See Set up When.

See the title before you add. When the words that set a new event's date, repeat, or type would leave its title, a Title row at the top of the fields shows the title the event will be saved with. See Create and edit an event.

Also fixed:

  • Periods in month view use the same tinted colors and hover treatment as week view.
  • Checkmarks align with the feature text in Plan & billing.
  • Sign-in loading describes account access before your calendar opens, and Profile shows its loading state while opening from the waitlist.
  • Permanent deletion in Trash clears large selections without leaving blank entries behind, and failed deletes keep their confirmation open with an error.
  • The waitlist no longer asks you to pick interests or promises calendars based on those picks.

October 12

Cleaner buttons. Inbox action buttons and the collapsed assistant launcher omit keyboard shortcut hints. The shortcuts still work, and menu rows keep their hints. See Keyboard Shortcuts.

Updated calendar examples. The website and help guides now show a business trip with flights, a hotel stay, and meetings. See Week view.

Sign-up pages and profile photos. The username and waitlist pages and the name and birthday form now match the rest of When, and you can add a profile photo while you're on the waitlist or during setup. See Set up When.

Streak controls. Check off events from the Streak row in the editor. The row appears automatically when check-offs are enabled; removing it disables check-offs for that event, and adding it back restores them. See Check off events and keep a streak.

Also fixed:

  • The all-day add button stays visible when you hover over events or periods in the row.
  • Google and Outlook reconnection preserves imported calendars, missing permissions prompt you to reconnect, and removing unavailable calendars asks for confirmation.
  • The AI chat now shows feedback immediately while pasted, dropped, or selected images are being prepared.
  • The homepage timeline spaces its sections correctly and follows your scroll position.
  • Joining from an invite link no longer gets stuck after you choose a username.
  • Keeping the Subscriptions or Fitness starter calendar in setup no longer leaves a change that won't sync.
  • Skipping ahead in setup no longer marks the steps you skipped as done.
  • Signing out with changes that couldn't be saved now says so, instead of promising they'll sync later.
  • A change you make right before switching tabs now finishes syncing instead of waiting until you come back. Pressing Today also updates the address bar right away.
  • The current-time marker on the week view follows your 24-hour time setting.

October 11

One AI setting. Turn AI features on or off in Settings → My data. Turning them off hides chat and its shortcuts and stops new AI requests. See AI privacy and safety.

Calendar filters now hide what you uncheck: every event type, calendar, and label starts checked, and Only on a row shows just that one. Filters stay on the calendar views instead of reaching widgets, and phones get the filter button in the header. See Search and filter.

A clearer Calendar options menu. The menu now has a group named for the calendar you are viewing, with Calendar settings, and a Settings group that links to Calendar defaults, Event types, Labels, and Integrations. In a calendar's settings, Views is now first, opens in place to show a switch for each of Week, Month, and Column, and Sharing moves to the bottom.

Clearer check-offs. The check on an event is now a rounded square with a soft fill, and a done event gets a solid square with a bold check. Done events no longer fade. The cursor over an event is now the regular arrow, and turns to a pointer only over the check and the ... menu.

Simpler Timezone clock. Turn off Show main clock in the widget's … menu to keep just the zone rows. The clock no longer adds a time-of-day word under the time or hour labels under the timeline. See Widgets.

Redesigned emails. Reminders, booking updates, the daily digest, security codes, and every other email from When now share one look: the When mark at the top, the email's type beside it, and details like flight numbers and confirmation codes lined up in a table. See Notifications.

First event hint. Until your calendar has anything on it, the week shows how to add your first event. See Create your first event.

Founding member plan. When now has one plan, Founding member, after a 14-day free trial. When a trial ends without a subscription, your calendar becomes view-only, and your data stays yours to view and export. See Plan and billing.

Invites have their own page. Open Settings > Invites to copy your invite links and see who has joined. Plan & billing now shows just your plan. Your account menu, the one under your name in the sidebar, adds Plan and Invites links, and shows how many invites you have left to share.

Quieter period bars. In week view, periods now show as a soft tint of their color with colored text, so they read as context behind your events instead of another event bar. The weekend hatching no longer shows through them.

Check off from the sidebar. Events with streaks and other events you can check off show a round check in sidebar and Dashboard lists. Click it to mark that occurrence done without opening the editor, or click it again to clear the answer. See Check off events and keep a streak.

Clearer title suggestions. Suggested values now look the way their fields will once saved, reminders a suggestion would replace stay in Notify struck through, and the calendar shows a dashed copy of the event at its suggested time. Click a suggested row or the sparkle in its corner to keep the current value, and point at the suggestion count to list them all. See Creating and editing events.

Title suggestions in the fields. When a new event's title names a day, time, repeat, type, or reminder, the suggested values now appear in the fields they change, so the editor shows the event as it will be saved. Click an underlined value to keep the current one instead, and Add event now saves what the fields show. See Creating and editing events.

Also fixed:

  • Fast calendar navigation keeps incoming days and their events visible while the view slides.
  • Reduced pauses when scrolling Column view and loading incoming calendar pages during navigation.
  • An invite link now lets you in when you already have an account on the waitlist, and the waitlist says when a code from sign-up couldn't be used.
  • Location maps remember recently viewed places across reloads and offer Retry map when a preview cannot load.
  • A bare place name in Location, like "Nopa", now maps to a match near your home time zone, or shows no map instead of a same-named place on another continent.
  • Checkmarks, toggles, and feedback thumbs now use the text color instead of the accent, so selected states read calmly.
  • AI approval previews show repeat frequency, weekdays, and the end date or occurrence count when you create or change a repeating event or period, and state when a repeat rule is removed.
  • Running setup again no longer creates starter calendars you didn't choose, and setup on a phone no longer jumps back to its first step.
  • Repeated check-off confirmations update one notice with a count, and Undo restores the whole batch.

October 10

Check off from the title and the Streak row. The event editor's Done button is now a round check before the title, like the one on the calendar. On a repeating event, the Streak row has a check for each of the latest occurrences, so you can mark a missed one done. See Check off events and keep a streak.

Simpler Countdown widget. The widget now opens on its road of upcoming countdowns, without the large headline above it. Each countdown still shows its time left in its row. See Widgets.

Icons on events and periods. Pick an icon from an event's Theme picker or a period's Color picker, and it shows at the start of the title on the calendar. Flights, hotels, meetings, birthdays, and payments show their type's icon until you pick another, and the icons you used last sit under Recent. See Choose an event type.

Simpler Event type widget. The widget no longer opens with a large heading for the nearest event. Every upcoming event, including one happening now, is listed under This week, Coming up, and Later. See Widgets.

Mini calendar highlights. Selected days show as a solid raised band, today gets a soft teal fill, and the day numbers sit above the event dots. See Widgets.

A new app icon. The browser tab, the installed app, and the home screen icon now show the When mark in its brand gradient, and reminder notifications carry it too.

New calendar, laid out like the editors. The type list and the setup steps use the same rows as the calendar editor, setup narrows to fit its fields, and the dialog now has Cancel and Create calendar buttons. See Create a calendar.

Search icons, and a simpler Theme picker. Type in the icon picker to find an icon by name, like "phone" for Calls. In the Theme picker, Filled is now a switch, and a new custom color opens in the same panel instead of a second popup. See Choose an event type.

Also fixed:

  • Opening Dashboard after a trip calendar shows the full current month and keeps month navigation available.
  • In New calendar, Esc in the name field closes the dialog.
  • After reloading offline, keyboard shortcuts, action messages with Undo, and Quick add stay available alongside your cached calendar. Quick add opens when you ask for it instead of appearing later when you reconnect.
  • Editing an event's date or time preserves an unchanged time in the repeated hour when daylight saving time ends.
  • Changing repeat frequency keeps occurrences you removed or edited instead of restoring the original event.
  • Selecting locked events or periods now offers Unlock in the selection menu.
  • Title suggestions show the timing and reminder changes a type would make before you apply it. Dismissed words stay dismissed when you reopen the draft.
  • Hotel and flight countdowns count calendar days for future dates, with hours and minutes for same-day starts.
  • Inbox suggests times within a draft's travel calendar dates, keeping scheduled drafts visible in the trip.
  • Typing an earlier start date moves the event to that day instead of stretching it, so a repeating event keeps its length on every day it repeats.

October 9

A new hotel stay is one night. A stay you add with Add hotel or the right-click menu checks in on that day and checks out the next. See Choose an event type.

Act on a search result. Right-click a result in the command menu, or highlight it and press ⌘↵, to pin, move, label, or archive it without opening it.

More in the calendar menu. A calendar's menu now has switches for Show in sidebar, Show on Main, and Show on Dashboard, plus Copy link. For a calendar someone shared with you, it offers Make a copy and Leave calendar.... The calendar editor has the same menu in its header. See Show calendars together.

A simpler thumbnail editor. Calendar thumbnails choose between Icon and Image. A calendar's letters are the first choice in the icon grid, and you can type them right there. The background colors open on their own page, which keeps the editor short, and 25 new icons cover things like faith, health, fitness, trips, and chores. Letters and icons are always white. See Create a calendar.

Cleaner keyboard shortcuts list. Press ? to see every shortcut in two columns of plain lists that match Settings. Keys show as symbols, such as ⇧ for Shift on a Mac, and mouse actions read Drag and Click. See Keyboard shortcuts.

Drag events out of collapsed hours. Events listed under collapsed hours in Week view now drag onto the grid or into the all-day lane, and nothing drops into collapsed hours. See Week view.

Setup. A new account opens on a short setup beside its calendar: choose your defaults, start with a few calendars or import from Google or Outlook, add calendars from Discover, and try five shortcuts. Finishing slides the panel away as your calendar moves into place. See Set up When.

Go to a date. Type a day, such as oct 20 or next friday, in the command menu and choose Go to to move the calendar there. A short number such as 20 now matches only that whole number, so it no longer matches 2026. See Use the command menu.

Go to the nearest date. In the command menu, a date without a year goes to the nearest one, so on October 9, oct 1 goes back to October 1 instead of ahead to next year. A date more than six months back still goes ahead. See Use the command menu.

Reminders that arrive together share one notice. When several reminders come due while When is open, one notice lists them instead of a stack. Choose Show all to view or check off each one. See Check off events and keep a streak.

More holiday calendars. Discover now includes Germany, Mexico, Thailand, India, Australia, and the Netherlands, each with illustrated artwork and filters for the holidays it covers. See Discover and subscribe to calendars.

New events start today. When today is on screen, Add event and the other create actions start today instead of on the first day of the week.

Plan with the assistant. Choose Plan in the assistant to work out a schedule together. A new Plan conversation opens with a summary of the days on screen, such as time booked and overlaps, and nothing reaches your calendar until you apply the draft. In Week view, drag a draft's events to change their times.

Profile and a full export. In Settings → My Account, type your Birthday as a date such as Mar 14 1990, and choose a color for an avatar without a photo. Settings → My data can now email All my data (.json), a file with everything in your account. See Trash and export.

Reminders from the assistant. Ask the assistant for a reminder, such as a push notification 5 days before a bill is due, and it sets the event's reminders. See Set a reminder.

Remove one occurrence. To skip one date of a repeating event, right-click it and choose Remove this occurrence. The rest of the series stays, and Undo brings the date back. See Repeat an event.

Search matches every word. In the command menu, a result must match every word you type. When a result under All calendars matched only through its label, type, or period, its row says so, such as Label Work. See Use the command menu.

Stays and overnight flights on the phone List. On a phone, a hotel stay or an overnight flight shows on every day it covers in List, worded for that day, such as 3 nights left or Check out at 11 am. See Use When on your phone.

Titles fill in the details. As you type a new event's title, words that name a day, a time, a repeat, or a type are underlined, and a line under the title shows what they would set. Press Enter to use them and add the event, so Tyler's birthday tomorrow makes a yearly birthday. See Create and edit an event.

Change what the title read. Click an underlined word in a new event's title to pick another day, time, length, repeat, or type, and the line under the title updates. A day without a time, such as Dentist tomorrow, makes the event all day. See Create and edit an event.

Trip itinerary in local time. The Trip itinerary lists each item on the day and at the time it happens where it takes place, and names the time zone when it differs from that day's. A repeating event shows once, under Repeating. Flights, stays, and plans you add from the itinerary use the trip day's time zone, and a flight titled with two airport codes, such as NRT → LIS, departs and lands in each airport's zone. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

Unlimited subscribed calendars. Every plan now includes unlimited subscribed calendars, including ones you import or add from Discover.

Also fixed:

  • All-day events on public calendar pages, in a calendar's Hidden items, and in the date a typed title suggests for a birthday or other all-day type show their own day instead of the day before west of UTC, and a hotel stay with times shows its check-in and checkout dates in the hotel's time zone.
  • When the assistant changes reminders on an all-day event, it now uses whole days, as it already did for new all-day events.
  • Events the assistant creates use the trip day's or the calendar's time zone when you don't name one.
  • Saving a plan draft in the assistant no longer fails now and then on a long draft.
  • When the assistant can't make a change you asked for, it explains why, without an error card that suggests retrying.
  • In Week view with collapsed hours, the hours shrink to keep midnight on screen, and the grid slides smoothly when events under the collapsed band come and go between weeks.
  • Dragging an event to another day in Column view now uses the full day row as its drop target.
  • The command menu's Today, Tomorrow, and Next Week keep the view you are in instead of switching to Week.
  • When your computer's clock skips an hour or a day that your calendar's time zone doesn't, such as the hour lost when daylight saving time starts, dates and times shown in your calendar's time zone during that gap are no longer an hour or a day off.
  • Double-clicking the 11 pm row adds an hour-long event instead of an empty one.
  • A dragged event or period now lands where you drop it, without first jumping past that spot for a moment.
  • Pressing Escape during keyboard reordering of editor fields or checklist items cancels the drag and keeps the editor open.
  • At the limit of 10 feedback messages, reports, and ratings an hour, the feedback form and the rating thumbs say what time you can send again.
  • In the Trip itinerary, an item's menu names the same day and time as its row.
  • In the Trip itinerary form, the same start and end time in one time zone asks for two different times instead of making a 24-hour item.
  • last friday in quick add, the command menu's Go to, and an event's date field means the most recent Friday, not the coming one.
  • Right-click Add event late in the evening ends by midnight, like a double-click.
  • New calendar says when a name is longer than 50 characters, instead of creating a calendar that cannot sync.
  • now and in an hour in quick add start at the right time when your calendar shows a different time zone from your computer's.
  • Overlapping events in Week view show when they start: an event covered by a later one puts its start time before its title, and a narrow one shows just the start time.
  • Plan and trial messages list only features every account has.
  • A repeating item in Trip names its time zone by city, such as 8 am Paris time, so it stays true after a clock change.
  • While you resize or drag out an event, its length shows as quiet text above the resize handle instead of a chip, and moves just below the event when the event is too short to hold it.
  • Screen readers name an event's menu and its widget rows by where they are, such as in editor or in Upcoming events, so the same event in two places sounds different. The Mini calendar's today button is now Show this month, apart from the Today widget's Jump to today.
  • Screen readers name each event's controls by the event and its date, so the occurrences of a repeating event sound different.
  • Screen readers tell the calendar menu in the nav rail apart from the one in the sidebar, and a tracker's header + apart from its add row, such as Add to trip and Add to itinerary.
  • Editing a repeating event from the day the clocks go back keeps the times you see on every other day: moving that day's 12:30 to 1:30 am event to 1:00 makes the rest 1:00 to 2:00 am, not 1:00 to 3:00 am. A reminder or flight time typed into the hour the clocks skip, such as 2:30 am on March 8 in New York, now shows 3:30 am, the time it saves.
  • In the command menu, a short number inside a date, such as the 20 in 11/20, matches only that whole number, so it no longer finds events from 2026.
  • Ending a subscription that has not charged yet now says it archives the subscription, and how to undo that.
  • When your computer's clock is set to a different time zone than your calendar, the Time progress widget's decade starts and ends at midnight in your calendar's time zone, and around New Year it shows the right decade.
  • When your computer's clock skips an hour near midnight, as Greenland's does in late March, the Time progress widget's week ends on its last day instead of a day late, and late on Saturday it still shows the current week.
  • In the afternoon, a day that is today, such as friday on a Friday or oct 9 on October 9, means today in quick add, the command menu's Go to, a draft's due date, and an event's date field, instead of next week or next year.
  • The Subscriptions month-end note reads "31st" instead of "31th", and the Fitness tracker capitalizes the weekday of your next workout.
  • Trip and the other tracker widgets scroll when their list is longer than the widget.
  • With When open in two tabs, an assistant change made on another device no longer shows a save error in one of them.

October 8

Check off from the phone List. On a phone, List shows a check at the end of each event you can check off. Tap it to mark the event done. See Check off events and keep a streak.

Connect Claude or another AI app. Settings → Integrations shows the MCP server address under AI apps, with a guide to connecting. See Connect Claude or another AI app.

Draw on the calendar. Every account can draw on Week, Month, and Column views on desktop with a pen or a highlighter. Your account can keep up to 5,000 strokes and 16 MB of drawings. See Draw on the calendar.

Events in collapsed hours. In Week view, when Calendar hours is set to Collapse hours, each day's events inside those hours show in a row under the collapsed band, with their names and times. Click one to open it without expanding the hours, or click the band to expand them, and each event glides to its place. See General settings.

Month view shows what is hidden. When a day has more events than fit, colored squares and a count such as +3 stand for the rest, and a day with only one hidden event shows it. Click the count to open the whole day in place. See Month view.

New events are added when you say so. A new event or period is created only when you choose Add event, Add period, or Save draft. Closing it before then discards it, and Undo brings it back. See Create and edit an event.

Overlapping events stay readable. In Week view, events that start at nearly the same time sit side by side, and other overlaps cascade so each title stays visible.

Quick add from anywhere. Press ⌥Q, or choose Add new (+), then Quick add, and type a sentence such as lunch Friday at 1 to add an event. The command menu now uses the same names as the Add new menu, such as Add event and Add period. See Inbox.

The editor saves what it shows. The times in the event editor are the times that save, and moving the start keeps the event's length.

Trackers on your phone. On a Travel, Subscriptions, Birthdays, or Fitness calendar, a row under the phone header opens its tracker, such as Trip. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, workouts, and trips.

Also fixed:

  • The assistant includes the last day on screen when it reads your week.
  • A repeating event the assistant created keeps its last day when you move it later.
  • The Dashboard greeting takes less space on short desktop windows.
  • Opening a menu near the bottom of the window no longer scrolls the page.
  • The ⋯ button on calendar events no longer flickers under the pointer.
  • In New calendar, typing replaces the name a calendar type fills in. A calendar name that is blank or longer than 50 characters goes back to the saved name.
  • A short event opens when you click anywhere on it, not only near its top.
  • A time that a clock change skips, such as 2:30 am on the night clocks go forward, moves forward by the gap everywhere you enter it.
  • Time zone labels use the offset on the event's own date, so a Paris event in November reads GMT+1 even when you look at it in October.
