Choose and arrange widgets

Add widgets to the Dashboard or sidebar and adjust their layout.

Choose and arrange widgets

Widgets appear in two places: the Dashboard and the sidebar beside the calendar. Both use the same Add widgets picker.

The top of the sidebar

Each calendar's sidebar opens with one card for that calendar: its name, a Mini calendar, and its list. On most calendars the list is Upcoming events; on a calendar made from a template it's that calendar's own list, such as Birthdays or Trip. Widgets you add sit below this card, and the card fills whatever space they leave.

  • Switch calendars by selecting the calendar's name at the top of the card.
  • Now leads the list: a trip or other period you're in, with how far through it you are, such as Day 78 of 90, then events happening right now.
  • Pick a day in the Mini calendar to start the list on that day as well as moving the calendar there. The list starts with that day's periods, and Now steps aside while you look at another day. Choose Today above the list to go back.
  • Swipe sideways on a trackpad over the Mini calendar to move it a month, or a week when it shows one week.
  • Add period and Add event sit at the end of the list.
  • Open the card's … menu to show the Mini calendar as a month, one week, or not at all, choose dots or bars for events, turn Now at the top off, change how far ahead the list looks, or Edit sidebar to add widgets.

Add or remove a widget

On the Dashboard, choose Add widgets. In the sidebar, open Calendar options and choose Edit sidebar. Pick a widget from the list.

Choose Remove to take a widget out of the layout. Removing a widget does not change your events, and you can add the widget again.

Widgets you can add

WidgetWhat it shows
TodayThe current day on a time grid
Upcoming eventsThe next events on your schedule
Mini calendarA month you can click to jump to a date
HeatmapBusy and quiet weeks across the year
Timezone clockThe time in other time zones
Time progressHow far you are through the year
CountdownDays until events you choose
Marked daysDays since or until your marked days
DraftsYour drafts, with a quick add row below them that turns what you type into an event or draft
HabitsYour habits and every repeating event with Streak: this week's checks, each run, and what's due today
Sticky noteA note pinned beside your calendar
Event typeUpcoming events of one type

You can add several Sticky note and Event type widgets. Every other widget can appear once. Mini calendar and Upcoming events are Dashboard widgets; in the sidebar they're part of the card at the top.

A new calendar's sidebar starts with Drafts below the card. A calendar made from a template starts with nothing below it. See Track birthdays, subscriptions, habits, and trips.

Move and resize

Drag a widget by its header to move it. To resize it, drag the gap below it.

Each calendar keeps its own sidebar layout. The Dashboard has one layout for all calendars.

Compare time zones

In Timezone clock, open the … menu to add, remove, or reorder time zones. The same menu hides the main clock or the timeline, or shows seconds.

Point at the timeline to see the time in every zone at that moment. You can also select the timeline and use the arrow keys. Press Escape to return to the current time.
