Set up When
The first time you open your calendar after your account is activated, setup opens beside it. Defaults and Discover save each choice as you make it, and the calendar next to setup shows the change right away. Profile and Calendars save when you choose Continue.
The steps
- Profile. Add a profile photo, your name, and, if you like, your birthday. The photo saves as soon as you choose it. This step appears only when your account has no name yet.
- Defaults. Choose your Time zone, the day the Week starts on, the Time format, Your day, and how Other hours show. Review AI features, Event suggestions, and Browser analytics. The info button beside a setting says what it shares. These start enabled for new accounts and browsers; rerunning setup keeps your saved choices.
- Calendars. Choose Starter calendars to add Work, Birthdays, Subscriptions, and Habits, or Just Main to keep only your Main calendar. Turn off any starter calendar you don't want. Main shows the events from each new calendar. You can turn off Show on Main later in its menu.
- Discover. Add holidays, sports, release dates, and more. Choose Subscribe on a calendar, or click it to preview it first. See Find calendars in Discover.
- Shortcuts. Press each shortcut to try it on your calendar. Phones skip this step.
- Plan. See when your free trial ends and what When costs after it. Choose Continue free trial to start using When, or Subscribe now to add a card. You're charged when the trial ends, not that day.
Choose Continue to move on, or a step's name or dot at the top to go to it. On Profile and Calendars, Skip moves on without saving that step. Skip setup goes straight to Plan and keeps everything already saved.
To run setup again, go to when.day/setup. Calendars then starts on Just Main, so it creates nothing unless you choose starter calendars. You can change any of these choices later in Settings.
