Mark a date range with a period
A period names a stretch of time, such as a trip or project, and appears as a bar across those dates. Events that fall inside the range keep their own calendar, type, and color. Periods can overlap.
Create a period
Press ⌥P from the calendar, or choose Add new (+), then Add period. This works the same on a phone.
Enter a name, choose the dates and appearance, and choose the period's calendar. You can also add labels, notes, and a checklist. Choose Add period (⌘↵, or Enter in the name) to add it. Closing the editor after you've changed anything adds it too, with Undo to take it back; closing it untouched discards it. Once it's added, changes save automatically.
Where periods appear
In Week view, period bars stack in the all-day lane. In Month view, they span the days they cover. A bar runs off the edge when the period extends past the visible dates.
Press ⌥⇧1 through ⌥⇧9 to jump to a period by its number.
Edit or archive a period
Click a period bar to open it. Periods on read-only calendars cannot be changed.
Archive a period from its editor to remove the bar. The events inside its dates are not affected. Restore the period from Settings → Archive within 60 days.
